Dear Subscriber,
I just wanted to take a quick moment and wish you well; the passing of the vernal equinox is always a tremendously busy yet hopeful time as we prepare for another growing season. If you happen to live in the southern hemisphere, I hope your winter preparations are going well :) Regardless, 2025 is a new year, not without challenges, but not without hope either. Hoping all the best for your and your family!
Next I wanted to offer you a heartfelt “Thank you!!” It’s been almost two weeks since I began the public “promotion” of the OpenSourceAwakening Substack site. The response has been almost overwhelming! I only have limited bandwidth for the project, which is one of the reasons it’s free. The feedback I’ve gotten is tremendously positive! And what hasn’t been outright-positive has been very helpful, thoughtful constructive criticism. I started writing the first and, to-date, largest essay 18 months ago. I’ve been writing the bulk of the content for more than a year. And, if you haven’t already noticed, I’m a lousy editor and can’t afford to hire one. Another reason content is free :)
The helpful, critical feedback I’ve received has prompted me to review older essays and I’ve concluded I basically need to re-edit most everything. So that will be a work-in-progress as I continue to write new essays as well. The “meat” of the content won’t change, but some of the “condiments” will. Please be patient :)
There’s also good news! Since beginning the recent “promotion” period I have received half a dozen reports of people actually taking up an intentional inquiry/investigation practice! The only reason I even bothered to write any of this down in the first place is to encourage people that they can get to the bottom of their nature; they can find a satisfactory conclusion to the all-too-long seeking journey. That may sound too good to be true, but it’s true nevertheless.
So here’s to hoping other readers who are still seeking take up direct investigation, and that happy conclusions are reached by all that do so!
I’ll close this message with a request: if you have found the content on OpenSourceAwakening to be useful in your personal journey, PLEASE forward the “Site Map” and “References” page links to people that you think might benefit as well. And, of course, please share links to any specific essays that you think others will find interesting (good) or helpful (even better). This world could be a very different place if there were more people walking around who were clear on their Fundamental Nature. And if that idea is “pie-in-the-sky,” at least you can’t deny the benefit of more people overcoming suffering. The headache isn’t so bad if you don’t fight it ;)
As always, if you have questions, comments, feedback, post ideas, or anything similar, please drop me a line.
May you have a delightful spring (or autumn) 2025! And, if you haven’t yet, may you find what you’re looking for!
Gratitude, love, and best wishes,
-Lance
